Include:
Youth Programs:
Community
based programs are offered to youth between the ages of 12 and
24. Through community collaborations, youth residing in North
and Central Etobicoke are given opportunities to develop
leadership skills, increase options to make healthy choices, enhance
physical and emotional well being and engage in civic activities.

Ethno
Cultural Seniors Program:
This
program creates a safe and friendly space for the seniors and
older adults (55+) from diverse culture to meet. The purpose of
the program is to reduce social isolation of “at risk” and ethnic
seniors and older adults, develop social networks; promote health
and wellness, building self confidence to lead an independent
life.
City of Toronto is supporting this Free Program.
Seniors Program Activities Include:
Health and Wellness Programs:
Fitness (exercise) Session, Health related workshops,
video shows and discussions, cooking sessions, Celebrations: -
Birthdays, special cultural days, Bingo, cultural presentations
of the seniors and healthy lunch are the part of the program.
When: Tuesdays 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Where: Rexdale Community Health Centre
Arts and Crafts Program
This program provides an opportunity for seniors to come together
and work with their hands to produce the craft or art items they
like. The program provides all supplies for the workshop and training.
Grace Channer, the visual artist, facilitates the
sessions.
We provide child care, Interpretation/ Translation
services and TTC Tickets. Special transportation through Red Cross
may also arranged for seniors experiencing barriers for independent
travel.
North
Etobicoke Seniors Network:
North Etobicoke Seniors Network is a new project
funded by Social Development Canada to utilize the skills
and experience of the seniors in promoting well-being of the community.
Seniors Advisory Committee with members from diverse
cultural background, outreaching to newcomer seniors, expanded
Health and Wellness programs, organizing the craft trainings and
sales, publishing a resource directory etc. are the important
activities.
We provide child care, Interpretation/ Translation

Adult
Social Program:
The objective of this ongoing program is to empower
participants through self-expression and the exchange of feelings,
thoughts and life issues with others who maybe experiencing similar
circumstances.
The Ottawa Charter of Health Promotion recommends
creating a supportive environment for those living with isolation,
depression and other mental health issues. The adult social program
offers a range of group activities that promote physical and social
health and emotional well-being. Activities include physical fitness
classes, and various life skills workshops such as overcoming
social isolation, budget management, and personal health.
The Adult social is currently running every Monday
from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.

Hearing
Impairment:
This Drop-in Social program is for those who have
experienced loss of hearing. The program’s objective is to
reduce social isolation and build community connection
between the family and the community. Program activities include
social and health education.

Jamestown
Women’s Group:
The ongoing program is designed for clients who
are isolated, frustrated and have difficulty coping with stress
and also is planned to exchange and share their life experiences,
to provide a place where women can meet and socialize, and also
to build women’s self-esteem through the activities.

Immigration
and Refugee Advice:
In partnership with Rexdale Community Legal Clinic,
this program provides the services of a lawyer to assist people
who have questions about the Immigration and Refugee process.
Appointments are not necessary but encouraged. The service is
provided on Mondays (except for Statutory holidays) from 4:00
p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Parent
/ Child Drop-in:
Parent child playgroup is currently running every
Thursday from 9:00 to 12:00. The program is for children age 0-6
years who have difficulty in speaking and communicating with their
parents or caregivers; also it gives an excellent opportunity
for parents and caregivers to play with their children, to develop
new parenting skills, and to learn about other cultures.

Support Services:
Client intake for clinical services, short term
counselling, assessment and referral, form filling for clients,
advocacy for clients and coordination of client services.

Diabetes
Support Group:
A monthly group meeting providing information to
assist individuals to manage their diabetes in order to avoid
the development of other health issues such as heart & liver
diseases. Guest speakers and Centre staff provides information
on a variety of topics.
The meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month (unless
following a Statutory Holiday) at 8 Taber Road from 6:30 to 8:00.
Advance registration is not required.

Speech
and Language Services
The
Speech and Language Program (SLP) is designed to deliver speech
and language services for infants, toddlers, and pre-school children
from 0 to 5 years (until the summer before Senior Kindergarten).
Services include:
- Assessments,
- Individual and group therapy,
- Parent training workshops
- home programming for: language, articulation, oral-motor skills,
fluency and social community interaction
All services are offered by a team of Registered
Speech-Language Pathologists and Communicative Disorders Assistants
in partnership with Toronto Preschool Speech and Language Services.
When: Monday to Friday, 9 a.m.
to 5 p.m., year round. Limited services on some Saturdays.

Etobicoke
Pre & Post Natal Nutrition Project (EPPNNP)
This is a community-based project that provides
health, social and nutritional support to women and teens during
pregnancy and in the first year of their child’s growth and development.
The project has two programs, Eating For Two
and Feeding With Love.
Eating for Two
is designed to encourage healthy pregnancies and reduce the
risk of low birth weight babies among pregnant women/teens who
have limited social support and who may be new to Canada. The
program is from prenatal untill the baby is three months old.
Feeding With Love
is designed to encourage healthy eating for women/teens and
their babies living on low income. This program provides a continuum
of care from when the baby is four months old until the baby
is a year old.

Special Events
Rexdale
Community Health Centre organizes a number of special events to
celebrate the diversity and health of the community. Events include
African History Month, International Women’s Day, International
Day for the Elimination of Racism, South Asian Month Celebration
and the Centre’s own Community Health Day. Please see our calendars
