The Rexdale Community Health Centre is governed by a volunteer board of directors who provide strategic advice and direction to the leadership of our Centre to ensure that Rexdale CHC is operated responsibly.

The Rexdale Community Health Centre Board of Directors believes that communication with the community is an important part of the governance process and encourages community members to express their views. When appropriate, the Board may instruct management to respond on its behalf.

AlexandraAlexandra Boasie Board Chair

Alexandra Boasie: is a healthcare leader with experience in both hospital and policy sectors. She holds an MSc from Queen’s University and an Executive MBA from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University.

Alex is a Senior Manager, working for the largest surgical program in Canada – the Sprott Department of Surgery at University Health Network – where she leads transformation, quality, system improvements and innovation in care delivery. Alex has a strong understanding of the healthcare landscape and has overseen acute ambulatory care programming as well as provincially led access, quality-of-care and funding programming. She has experience leading multidisciplinary teams including clinical, technical, quality improvement, and administrative professionals.

Alex is passionate and committed to providing exceptional person-centered care and has demonstrated excellence in strategic and operational management and quality improvement.

As a resident of Etobicoke and a Rexdale CHC Board Member, she is committed to improving access to care and services for our neighbours and the Rexdale community.

AviAvi Rakhra Board Vice Chair
Avi is currently the Director of Government Relations with Kids Help Phone with extensive experience in the government, political and business sectors. He has previously worked in government at the federal level and brings over a decade of experience in both the political and policy realms. His experience has enabled him to grasp a firm understanding of the legislative process and how it can be applied to the not-for-profit sector in order to ensure success. Prior to his professional career, Avi’s educational background includes political science, government and public policy.
Ross DeBoniRoss DeBoni Board Secretary

Ross has worked in healthcare and life sciences for over 15 years, and has been a lawyer for over 20. He grew up in Calgary, and has a BA from McGill University and a law degree from University of Ottawa.

Ross is a team leader of the corporate legal and compliance groups at University Health Network. The teams provide tactical and strategic advice and actively work with colleagues to achieve patient driven outcomes while respecting the interests of diverse customer, industry and government stakeholders.

His past experience in the not-for-profit sector includes partner engagement as a corporate campaign co-chair on behalf of the United Way of Peel, building organizational effectiveness as a board member of the Boys & Girls’ Club (St-Albans/Jane &Finch), coaching community soccer and baseball, and legal advice on governance and organization requirements for various organizations through Pro-Bono Ontario.

Ross is committed to supporting the work of the Rexdale CHC, and the contributions of its staff and the community.

CynthiaCynthia Bour Board Treasurer
Cynthia is currently a Portfolio Associate at a leading investment management firm. Since completing secondary school in Rexdale, she has gained a wealth of knowledge throughout her career in the areas of financial planning & reporting, best accounting practices, regulatory compliance, capital management, fundraising, and budgeting. As Founder of Moneynomx, a financial education and coaching organization, Cynthia shares her knowledge with individuals across Canada working with agencies that specifically support the needs of immigrant communities.
HarshitaHarshita Jagadeesh Board Director
Harshita is a young leader in the health care field and is passionate about working to help create systems that will lead to a better quality of life for populations and improve access to care. Harshita is currently the Manager of Space Operations at the University Health Network (UHN), leading a team of staff in all aspects related to the physical spaces across UHN sites. Prior to this role, she was a Senior Planner at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre where she helped to operationalize the strategic directions of the ambulatory and malignant hematology departments. She holds a Master of Health Administration degree and has obtained the Canadian College of Health Leaders – Certified Health Executive designation, as well as the University of Toronto Lean Six Sigma certification.
JoyeJoye Badou Board Director
Joye Badou, currently coordinator of the youth program at Connecture Canada and secretary-general of the board of directors of the Auberge Francophone, have worked as a supervisor for Francophone newcomers, as a project manager, as a database design, and as statistical analysis. Joye have also worked on projects to promote health services in French at Entité 3.
KikiKiki Lin Board Director
Kiki Lin is currently a Director of Strategy at a global financial institution. Kiki began her career as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA). International experience at Fortune 100 companies and non-profit organizations in: financial & strategic planning, operations management, risk management, performance measurement, digital strategies and design thinking.
MichaelMichael Walters Board Director

Michael Walters has worked as a Mental Health and Addictions Program Consultant for 25 plus years in the Health Care sectors of Ontario and Alberta. He is a highly skilled, resultsoriented leader in Health Care policy and program development specifically, in the Mental Health and Addictions sector.

Michael has a steadfast commitment to the promotion of diversity, inclusion, integrity and ethical behaviour in Health Care, Social Services and Business environments.

Michael has been employed as a senior Manager in

  • Addiction and Mental Health Treatment agency in Ontario and Alberta:
  • the Children’s Mental Health sector in Ontario

Prior to these roles Michael was the Executive Assistant for 16 years to several Assistant Deputy Ministers at Ministry of Health and Long-term Care policy, programs and operations divisions.

Michael has an undergraduate degree in Social Work and is currently working on his Master of Social Work degree.

Jerom YuJerom Yu Board Director
Jerom Yu, CPA, MBA is currently a Director, Finance at an Insurtech startup company. He has over 12 years of professional and leadership experience in the areas of finance, accounting, M&A, business intelligence and HR, etc. in both not-for-profit and startup companies, where he helped to streamline their operations and facilitated their repaid growth.
Sandra RobinsonSandra Robinson Board of Director
Sandra is a healthcare leader with over 30 years of experience in clinical practice, research, administration, and professional regulation. She has a Master of Nursing/Nurse Practitioner Degree from the University of Toronto and is an Adjunct Lecturer with Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing – University of Toronto.
Sandra is the Director, Perioperative Services at Women’s College Hospital, a world leader in women’s health, health equity, and healthcare system solutions. With a passion for building and fostering high-performance teams, she leads them to implement innovative and transformative initiatives, aligned with the strategic priorities of the organization, to meet the needs of the community and the broader healthcare system.
Sandra also has Board experience, having served as a Council member at the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and Council President from 2020 to 2022, as well as a Director on the Board of the Toronto Birth Centre.
As a life-long resident of Etobicoke, she is excited to be a Board Member with the Rexdale CHC and to partner with the community to create innovative programs and services that supports the health and wellness of Rexdale residents.
Sai-Amrit MaharajSai-Amrit Maharaj Board of Director

Sai-Amrit Maharaj is a dedicated healthcare professional deeply committed to advancing patient-centered care and influencing positive changes in healthcare policy. His journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Guelph. He then pursued a Master of Health Science in Translational Research at the University of Toronto, where his passion for improving healthcare became evident. Concurrently, he completed a Masters Collaborative Specialization in Public Health Policy from the University of Toronto to learn how to yield change on the lives of patients from a population level.

During Sai-Amrit’s Master’s program, he demonstrated exceptional leadership by spearheading a quality improvement project at Toronto General Hospital within the Cardiac Care Clinic. This initiative aimed to enhance clinical efficiency, optimize resource allocation, and streamline overall clinic operations, showcasing their ability to drive meaningful change in healthcare settings.

Sai-Amrit’s commitment to healthcare excellence continues in their current role as a Physician Navigator at William Osler Health System, where they ensure the efficiency of pre and post-consultation processes in the emergency department. Prior to this, their role as a Clinical Research Assistant at SickKids Hospital contributed significantly to cutting-edge pediatric healthcare research.

Beyond their clinical and research endeavors, Sai-Amrit leads the “Patient-Centered Needs” project, empowering patient voices to shape research, policy, and healthcare delivery. Their dynamic blend of clinical expertise, research acumen, and advocacy makes Sai-Amrit Maharaj a powerful force in enhancing patient experiences and positively impacting healthcare policy.

Melissa PeckMelissa PeckBoard of Director

Melissa Peck is the Senior Manager of Patient Registration and Admitting at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. Mount Sinai Hospital is a patient care, teaching and research centre affiliated with the University of Toronto and a part of Sinai Health. Melissa has achieved more than 15 years of progressive experience in the field of healthcare administration; beginning her career in primary care and transitioning into the hospital sector.  

Melissa is committed to life-long learning and personal growth. She holds a Master of Health Studies, a Bachelor of Commerce and the designation of Health Information Certified Associate (HICA). She has a passion for continuous quality improvement which inspired her to complete a LEAN Healthcare Yellow Belt. She is an active member of Toastmasters International.

Melissa is inspired by the impactful work carried out by the Rexdale Community Health Centre, which is located in her home community. She pledges to contribute meaningfully to the diverse perspectives and needs of her community as a member of the board.
