Steps to Excellence Program (STEP+)
The Steps to Excellence Program (Step+), serves youth from the Kingsview Village-The Westway neighbourhood who are in highschool and attend Kipling Collegiate Institute (see below for eligibility requirements) and encompasses a broad range of focus areas including academic support, mentoring, youth development, arts, sports, and recreation.
Step+ positively influences academic performance in several ways, including better attitudes toward school and educational goals; increased school attendance rates; better performance in school; increased academic achievement; improvement in grades; improved homework and assignment completion and greater engagement in learning.
Step+ affords youth various opportunities to practice new skills through hands-on and experiential learning with a focus not just on academic support but also offers other enrichment activities.
Step+ balances academic support with a variety of structured, focused, and engaging activities to improve feelings and attitudes towards self and school and enhance overall academic performance.
