Steps to Excellence
Steps to Excellence Program (STEP+) is for youth people in the Kingsview Village-The Westway neighborhood who are in grades 9-12 and attending Kipling Collegiate Institute (see eligibility criteria below) and encompasses a broad range of support measures, including academic support,post-secondary exploration, social skills development and mentoring.Step+ contributes to improving school results, in particular by working to change the attitude towards school and educational objectives, to reduce the number of absences from school, to obtaining better grades, to improving homework and assignment completion to increase participation in the learning process. Step+ provides young people with a variety of opportunities to use new skills acquired through hands-on and experiential learning, with a focus not only on academic support but also on other enrichment activities.
Step+ not only provides academic support but also a variety of structured, targeted, and engaging activities to improve young people’s confidence and their outlook on both themselves and school and improve overall academic outcomes. Youth must be enrolled in grades 9, 10, 11 or 12.

  • Tuesday and Thursday
    4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m

Eligibility criteria

  • Youth must be enrolled in grades 9, 10, 11 or 12.

  • The youth must be attending with Kipling C.I.

  • The youth must have gone to Dixon Grove JMS or Hilltop MS.
